Do you have cafes and restaurants nearby?
There are two restaurants in the village of Portsalon, both offering breakfast, lunch and evening meals and takeaway services. The local golf club also offers meals. Opening hours depend upon time of season.
What do we need to bring with us?
You should come prepared for all weathers with outdoor clothing and sensible footwear for our rural site. We provide king sized duvets but you may wish to bring extra blankets/hot water bottles – remember you are camping ireland! Please bring your own towels. We have very little lighting around our site in our aim to limit light pollution so you may want to bring torches. Our kitchens are well equipped – just be sure to bring all foodstuffs you need.
Do you have shops nearby?
The local shop in Portsalon stocks a wide range of groceries, newspapers and also has an off license. Supermarkets are available in Letterkenny.
Can a group of adults book a yurt?
Our yurts are most suitable for two adults and 2 – 4 children (depending on which yurt). You cannot book a group of adults online so if you wish to book more than two adults into a yurt give us a ring or an email and we will discuss your needs and our group policies.
Can I get a local bus?
There is a daily service (mon-fri only) from Letterkenny to Portsalon
Do you welcome children?
Yes. Families love our site with fabulous nature walks, the beach close by and the opportunity to sit around a camp fire at night time. Make sure you plan out some rainy day activities and bring along toys/games etc
Are you accessible for people with disabilities?
Yes. We have ramped access and electricity in our largest yurt. We have accessible toilet and shower facilities. As a rural site, the terrain is very rough in places. We will do our best to accommodate anyone with any disability and if there is anything we can do to make your stay more comfortable please ask. We welcome your contact in advance to discuss your requirements.
Do you allow camp fires and barbeques?
Yes, we do allow both camp fires and barbeques. We ask that you use the designated areas around the yurts and that you exercise due care at all times. We have small, simple portable barbeques that are available to borrow on a first come first served basis
Do you allow alcohol on your site?
The sensible enjoyment of alcohol is welcome on our site. We ask that you are always considerate to other guests in respect of noise. Please dispose of all empty bottles and cans in the recycling facilities available or you can dispose of them locally in the bottle banks in the beach car park
Do you have any noise policies?
We ask that you adhere to our ‘quiet times’ from 11pm to 9am with respect to your fellow guests and to our neighbours. Sound travels a long distance in our peaceful environment and what you may consider to be normal chatter may keep other guests awake – remember that young children may have gone to bed early
Do you provide firewood and barbeque coals?
We provide a complimentary basket of wood/turf for your stove. If you require more it is available to buy on our site. We do not sell barbeque coals but they are available to buy locally
Can we pitch up our own tent?
We do not have pitches for campers. Our site is for the exclusive use of visitors to our five yurts as advertised. We have specific maximum occupancy of our site and are unable to exceed this so are unable to allow tents alongside yurts either. There are other sites locally who do provide camping pitches
Do you provide hard pitches and electric hook up for caravans and campervans?
We do not provide any hard pitches or electric hook up for caravans and campervans. Our site is for the exclusive use of visitors to our five advertised yurts. There are other sites locally who provide for tourers
Do you provide towels and bed linen?
We provide bedding for one king sized bed. Additional bedding is available for an extra fee. We provide towels on request only for an additional fee
Do you serve meals?
We do not provide any meals but have self-catering facilities for you to prepare your own meals.
Can we cook inside the yurt?
No, cooking is not allowed inside the yurts for health and safety reasons. We have well maintained and well equipped self catering facilities available to you in our kitchen/lounge building 24 hours per day
Do you have an on-site shop?
We do not have an on site shop. There is a local shop in Portsalon a mile from our site
Is your site suitable for large groups?
Our site may be suitable for groups to book the full site by arrangement. The site may suit family gatherings, quiet birthday celebrations or activity groups (eg walking groups). We aim to offer a peaceful, tranquil and relaxing experience to all our guests so the appropriateness of group bookings would depend upon the nature of the group and other guests present. We are not a ‘party’ site and maintain a quiet policy between 11pm and 9am. We are unable to accept overnight group bookings for individual yurts. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
Do you allow pets?
We are sorry but we cannot accept pets on our site and are unable to make exceptions to this rule
